An excerpt
from Cowgirl on Her Back
"Whiley Tatum!"
It was a man's voice. Whiley rose out of the bathtub, still half-covered
in soap bubbles, and stepped out onto the plank floor of the ranch house.
When she got to the
door, she was still dripping wet and naked, but held a small towel in
front of her to protect what little modesty she had.
"Miss Tatum"
Stuart Lunger started, but it took him a couple of swallows to catch his
tongue. "You got to get off his land once and for all. It's part
of the Bar-G, and Mr. Caller wants it all."
"This was my
father's land fair and square, Lunger. If Grant Caller is makin' a threat"
"He don't threaten
whores who go around town"
"Whores?! You
think I'm a whore, Lunger?" She dropped the towel and stood before
him naked and glisteningand pointing a Colt .45 Peacemaker at his head.
Lunger stared
at her luscious naked body for a long moment, and then went for his own
gun. Whiley shot him in the forehead, dropping him like a stone.
Back inside, Whiley
added a little hot water to her bath. "What was that?" asked
young Kip Caller, rising naked out of the bed where he had been sleeping.
"Nothin', sweet
thing," Whiley said. "Just a polecat. But it's time you got
home to your daddy."
